Welcome To The Lemont Emergency Management Agency

Our Mission Statement
The Lemont Emergency Management Agency (LEMA) is to coordinate the efforts of the Village and Township to prepare for, mitigate, respond to, and recover from disasters, both natural and man made.
The Lemont EMA also provides unique and supplemental emergency services to protect the general welfare and safety of the public.
For the Village and Township of Lemont, the Lemont EMA is the primary provider of the following:
- Disaster Coordination
- Emergency Communications
- Public Notification and Warning (local outdoor warning sirens, communication with the National Weather Service (NWS) and other government agencies for additional alerts for many hazards/emergencies, as well as other local notifications.)
- Tornado Spotting
- Search and Rescue (Illinois SAR Council (ISARC))
- Emergency Sheltering, in conjunction with the American Red Cross (You can also make your own personal plan for Sheltering During an Emergency [ready.gov].)
- Emergency Evacuation
- Emergency Power and Lighting
The Lemont EMA is the supplemental provider of the following:
- Traffic Control
- Security
- General Assistance as needed by any Village Department
The Lemont EMA, as a member of the Will County Mutual Aid Association and Southwest Council of Mayors and Managers, provides assistance to other agencies as needed.
Odor Alert Network
The Lemont Emergency Management Agency (LEMA) also works with the Odor Alert Network (OAN) to detect and monitor odors in the Lemont area.
